You're missing an important part of the model number (eg. GBS22KBS_CC). Did you get it right off the appliance's model and serial number identification tag?

I recently came home and noticed it was making a ticking noise from the rear of the fridge. I can almost pin point the noise to an access panel where the circuit board is housed.
If it is actually coming from the control circuit board, I think you found the problem. Then it will be the hard part, trying to determine why.

I am not too savvy with refrigerators so any help would be very appreciated.
Sorry, not good news. That is one of GE's electronically controlled refrigerator models. They are very difficult to diagnose. So it will likely be either you installing (often expensive) parts just on a guess or calling for service. I recommend the latter and a GE *factory authorized* service depot at that so they'll be most familiar with fixing that product and will likely have any needed parts on hand for a quick repair.
