this is true apply any non conducting petroleum jelly on the screw shell part of the bulb. It needen't be heavy. a small amount goes a long way. the older fixture shells were made of brass the newer ones are aluminum. the heat of operating these receptacles tends to partially weld the lamps into their sockets, making removal impossible. the jelly eliminates this problem.
