We had a policy with one of the above mentioned companies and it was a big waste of money! When we needed them, there was ALWAYS some crazy excuse why they wouldn't honor the policy we'd been paying big bucks for each year. We dropped them after our hot water heater died and they claimed our plumbing hooked up to the hwh wasn't up to code. The warranty was part of the package when we bought the house and we just renewed it each year. Then found out they don't keep their end of the policy.
Do your homework before signing the contract, but my advice...save your money! JMHO.
