Start by taking the cover off the burner compartment. Post the model number off the rating plate for the furnace, usually found in the burner compartment.Turn the power off and the thermostat down. Turn the power on then the thermostat up to 80 or so. Observe and report in detail on the sequence of events that you observe happening at the furnace as it starts. You may need to repeat that a few times until you are sure you aren't missing anything.
