$450 to change that valve on a Sat. is not bad. Did it fix your problem? It sounds like some cleaning and adjustment may have fixed it with out changing the gas valve. My company will all ways leave an old part with the customer if they requests it. It’s your part, you own. If you want it you should keep it. He charged you for his valve, if he wants your valve, tell him he can buy it from you. "He said that he couldn’t because if I was to give it to someone and they used it and something happened he could be sued." "Something happened" like it worked just fine, would for sure get him sued.
