My 2000 Maytag dishwasher just stopped working. WHen the motor should kick on, it just hums for a few seconds and then stops humming, and never turns.

I don't know what the chances of something getting to the motor from the dish compartment and causing it to bind. The timer keeps going through the cycle, but the motor never turns. I get water, and I think it will still drain, but at the moment it isn't draining no matter what position I turn the dial to. I turned it because I didn't wantto wait a full cycle to drain, this is when I noticed that I couldn't find a spot on the dial where it would drain. It did drain on the last load of dishes we did this morning. Any help will be appreciated. Joe in Florida [8D]
