beverage air--keg fridge
i have a beverageair BM23--keg fridge--it is set at the highest number for coolness--but won't go below 44 degrees. I like my beer a lot colder. Can somebody help me? Would it be the thermostat--or could be freon be low? When set to high--it turns on for a couple of minutes, and then shuts off.
thanks,

If by high, you mean lowest temp, it runs only a couple minutes? And still warm? Yes, it sounds like the thermostat. See if you can get a replacement at an appliance repair shop.

If you can see the compressor - look at the larger of the two lines coming out of it. When it's running, the larger (suction line) should begin to form condensation on it. It should also be colder than the other line (high pressure line) If it doesn't could be a freon leak and the compressor is "short cycling"

The operating temperatures of refrigeraton equipment is determined by the internal pressures of the evaporator. A beer keg cooler is a dedicated refrigerator rather than a refrigerator/freezer like your kitchen fridge. Refrigerator/freezers use Low back compressors capable of pulling the low side pressures to extremely low pressures and in some instances vacuum; by contrast, dedicated refrigerators, air conditioners (yes, an air conditioner is a dedicated refrigerator, which also has filtering and circulating equipment), beer coolers, soda vending machines, grocery display cases and such use HIGH BACK compressors. They are designed to operate at a 40 to 45 deg temperature range, therefore your keg cooler is probably not capable of going below 44. r.Rinard journeyman plumber & HVAC/Refrigeration tech

okay guys, I've got a new thermostat. i'm going to install it
this week and see what happens. Also I got some high power
cleaner for the condenser ( from a a/c tech) and then I'll see
what happens. I can't believe that the fridge shouldn't go below
40 degrees--It's a beer fridge--beer needs to be cold.
