Maytag dryer LDE410 motor switch

Maytag Dryer motor switch contains several wires feeding in and several coming out of a (2 inch X 3inch ) black plastic box , all mounted next to the motor . I believe that the inner parts may burned / fried .

There are at least 2 sets of electrical "contact breaker points" , similar to those breaker contact points found in the distributor cap of ignition systems of older cars of the pre mid- 1970's .

I can see a pitted appearance and black sooty background surrounding the points . Is there a way to refurbish these , say with 1500 grit polishing paper ? other ?

The part is over $60 and it appears to me that only a small portion needs attention . Ideas ? I believe that the breaker contact point is mounted on an arm which may swing to /fro per the input of either temperature or a time signal , this is just a guess .

The part could be a centrifigual start switch which operates off the motor armature rpms. As speed increases the contacts open removing the start capacitor from the motor circuit. Sometimes there is a current sensitive relay which does the same thing but operates off the motor current. Blackened, pitted contacts is normal for a motor circuit because of the inrush currents to the motor. If you cleaned it up, first close/open situation would blacken it right up. Change it

Thank you for the comments . You are correct when you named it as the Motor Centrifugal Switch . This morning's library research has explained the Centrifugal Safety Switch cam / rpm operation theory .

I can now see how the ISOLATED SWITCH controls the heater circuit , while the other DUAL SWITCH serves to change from START CIRCUIT to RUN CIRCUIT , as determined by the forceful outward movement of a lever riding upon the motor shaft .

I need to determine if the switch contacts are bad or the motor windings are bad .

Plan to ohm out each , if I can understand the various wire paths . W/o a wiring diagram , it is hard to see what wire goes where , as the stuff is buried deep within the cavity of the dryer housing . Any enlightenment is appreciated .
