** what does "peel off" mean? **
That may have been a incomplete description of the process. On some models there are 2 small slots at the bottom of the cover for a screwdriver, etc. to fit into. Those can be used to raise the cover up *slightly*. Once lifted, the cover may be able to be gently pried away from the door from the bottom. Some covers are also held in place with 2-way tape in which case it may have to actually be
peeled to get it right off.
I don't know if that is the way yours is designed or not.
** As I said, I tried to force it off with a screwdriver but it didn't want to come off. **
Just the insert/cover or the whole housing/frame and everything??? The latter would definitely
NOT be able to be pried off, just the label/cover to expose the housing's mounting screws beneath. If you're unsure, it might be prudent to leave it to a professional rather than taking a chance on breaking it?
