kitchenaid dishwasher # KUDA23SY2 starts briefly then nothing. Reset cancel runs. Digital display not working although it comes on intermittently. Any thoughts please would be most appreciated. I've undone the screws for the front top panel but i must need to remove the latch. Is that a special torque screw?

Could possibly be a loose or corroded connection?

It might be a Torx® screw. If you don't have such a drive, you can purchase one with 2 common Torx bits at the following link:
