Cup stuck in garbage disposal

There is a shot glass stuck in my garbage disposal. I don't know anything about applainces and I need help.

I would guess that the overall diameter of the shot glass is a bit to large to be able to hold it with anything to pull if up through the rubber flappers.

The solution would be to pull the disposal out, remove the rubber flapper gasket assembly and you can then get the glass out.

If you happen to have a badger dispoasl pulling it out if fairly easy.

First umplug the electrical supply cord.

Next, disconnect the drain line from the disposal.

The disposal is held in place by a lock ring that has what look like small horizontal tubes. Hold the disposal body firmly and lightly tap one of the tubes with a hammer. Be careful because the ring only turns about 1.5 inches before the disposal motor assembly will drop down.

once you have the disposal out, the rubber flapper gaaket assembly is just snapped on like a rubber jar lid. Peel it off and you can get the glass out, then slip the gasket back in place, hold the disposal tightly up into the mount and rotate the lock ring to tighten in place. Reconnect the drain and electrical cord and your done.
