Question Maytag washer works but is noisy

I have a Maytag Performa washing machine model# PAV1000 that is 9 years old. It still works fine but is now making a knocking/clicking sound on the spin cycle. The clothes are evenly distributed in the tub, and the washer is level and firm on concrete floor. I looked underneath the unit while it was running to see if the belt is misaligned or needed replacing, but it looked fine. We also sort of tightened the pulleys. What else should I check or replace? Thanks.

Phelps is on a distinguished road
Drive belt thwapping on something or tensioner pully bearing problem.

Transmission gear or bearing problem.

Something under the agitator.

How steady is the tub as it spins? Have you taken a panel off and let it spin with the panel off and better tried to observe or to tell where the sound might be coming from? (Caution: be extremely careful around machines with panels open with the thing spinning. Some machines send the whole transmission and a big counterweight flying around at high speeds. No wearing of loose clothing or hoody strings, and no reaching back in there to feel when it is spinning!!!! Access and investigate at your own risk!)

Does the machine leak any oil or water underneath the machine?

Is it even spinning or just the noise... if not spinning there is a cam in cup under puller for trans that is not engaging.. to fix this replace with new pulley/spin bearing kit and cam...........

No, there is no leak anywhere. The agitator is moving both ways as it should, and the tub spins and drains water just fine. The clicking sound seems to be intermittent, sometimes it's noisy, and then when I move it a bit while running it sometimes stops, then the noise starts up again. Could it be possible that the drive belt is worn and just needs replacing? I tipped it again today and the belt deflects more than an inch when I push it. Thanks.
