If the motor is getting power (most likely the cause of the buzz you hear) but not running, unless something is just jamming the motor, the motor is likely defective and needs to be replaced. It is a common repair on all makes and ages of dryers, even within the first year warranty period.

For the quality of dryer that model is, yes, it would usually be worth while to have repaired... depending on the general condition of the rest of the dryer. Dryers of there era last a lot longer than any new model likely will.
Most reasonably handy persons could likely handle replacing the motor them self if that was what was required. I don't know what your capabilities are though.
