kenmore 911 498814 questions

Hello, I was just given a the above kenmore oven. It is a built-in unit and I was reading the door label that states you MUST have a certain selection of kenmore microwave above it.
Why is this? Does anyone know how old/efficient this unit is?

I'm afraid I can find no listing for such a model number, it looks to be short at least a couple of digits. Did you get it right off the appliance's model and serial number tag?

I don't know why that would be. You could try contacting Sears to see if they can tell you.

Sears may also be able to tell you the appliance's age if you provide them the complete model and serial number *off the appliance's identification tag*.

Cooking appliances are not usually rated for "efficiency" to my knowledge. If electric, you should be able to find the appliance's mximum power consumption on its identification tag. If gas, the burners' BTU rating(s) should usually be stated there.
