Ice Maker

The ice maker won't kick on. The fridge was stored off for about 2 years. I think the line is clogged right in the back of the fridge. The water tube looks dark, in a spot, Does anyone know how to blow out the line?
If you run a fridge without hooking up a waterline, Would that ruin the ice maker? I ran this fridge in my garage for about 2 years without a water line connected.
I just cleaned the fridge and brought it into the house.

Mr Ron,

Welcome to the forum.

The hose should be easily replaced, just remove the old one and take it to your local hardware store. Just make sure they know that it is for potable water so they don't sell you a hose that will add a taste to the water.

When you run a fridge with an icemaker and you don't want to use the feature you should lift the sensor bar up (if available) or unplug the power cord to the icemaking unit. What may have happened is the water relay may have been cycling on and off calling for water and finally quit.

Good luck, Jim
