GE Profile Refrigerator Freezer Problem

Made a stupid move last year and bought the most expensive appliances on the planet thinking they would be trouble free for a long time. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA . .. anyway ...model PDS22SBSBLSS with the digital temperature readout has the freezer (drawer type) temperature set to zero degrees. For the past 2 weeks, for half or more of each day whether it's been opened or not, the freezer temperature has been well above the setpoint...and higher each day. Today, it is 16 degrees above zero...so it looks like it is on it's way to failing. For the first year, the temperature rarely moved a degree off the setpoint...and the fridge compartment itself is still fine all the time. Wonder if anyone has any ideas about what could be happening here? Also, is there only a 1-year warranty on this kind of thing? Any help greatly appreciated!!

Usually... depending on what turns out to be causing the problem. Check your owner's manual for warranty coverage.

The freezer may appear to continue to keep the proper temperature but that too may change in a short period of time.
The first thing to understand is that all the cooling in a conventional frost free refrigerator usually originates in the freezer compartment, just a small portion of that air is circulated through the fridge compartment to cool there. If that air flow is hampered, the fridge compartment's temperature is usually the first to suffer."
My problem is with the freezer section (the drawer). The fridge part is fine. Doubled checked the temperature with a thermometer...and it is 16 degrees high today.

The things mentioned there will affect either/both compartment's temperature. The quoted passage does say, "the fridge compartment's temperature is usually the first to suffer". That is not always the case.

Each of those things have to be checked in order to rule them out as possible causes. That's the only way you're going to get to the actual cause in your case.
