GE dryer takes long time to dry clothes

Model #: DBXR463EB0WW

My GE dryer takes along time to dry clothes. I had a service guy come out and cleaned the lent from the dryer and exhaust. The dryer gets warm but not hot and it takes about 2 hours to dry clothes. Any help would be appreciated.

You had an appliance service technician look at it or just a handyman?

Didn't he check it afterwards??

Have you tried running the dryer with the venting totally disconnected for a load or two to see if drying improved? That would totally rule out the venting as a possibility.

That model dryer uses a double element coil (see the following link). If one of the two coils had failed it would cause reduced heat. But if you had an actual appliance service technician look at it, I would think that would have been one of the first things he checked.

An appliance technician came out to take a look. He disconnected it and put a wet towel in the dryer. Once it was running he put his hand at the outlet. That is all.

Unhappy Poor service

Than someone will need to do some further checking. The venting and the heater element would be high on the list.

I might also suggest a different technician/service company next time. One that provides factory service for the appliance brand in question is usually a good choice even though they possibly will not the cheapest option.

mine, too

My dryer is especially inefficient. Are the problems always from the venting and/or heating element, or are there other factors that can cause weak drying? I'm such a newb!

** Are the problems always from the venting and/or heating element **

No. Those are just the most common and the easiest for a layman to look into.

doh!

I took a look at the venting...I hadn't checked it in awhile, but as far as I knew it was fine...WRONG! Serious amounts of dust and hair stood before my eyes. I nearly ran out of the house in fear. I summoned my courage, however, and showed that dust who's boss. Hopefully my clothes will dry in less than 2 hours from now on...

Check and clean venting regularly

** I took a look at the venting...I hadn't checked it in awhile **

It should be checked and cleaned *all the way from the dryer to the outdoors* at the *very least* each fall before winter drying season.
