Can sub-quality CD/DVD damage a good dvd player ?

Can sub-quality / home-made CD/DVD or heavily used CD/DVD damage a good quality DVD player.

I don't believe it can as the disk literally floats on air as it spins and the laser head doesn't touch the surface. Along those same lines I wouldn't use a warped cd for if it does touch the laser head the optics would eventually erode and the disk couldn't be read. Most if not all disk players would sense this imperfection and would stop rotating, preventing damage

LazyPup has a spectacular aura about
although there may be some differences in the video or acoustic quality there really in no difference between commercially made CD and DVDs or those created on computers or home recording devices.

No matter what type of CD or DVD you use, the important thing is to insure it is clean and free of dust, dirt or any contaminants that could foul the machine.

Aside from the drive mechanism there is no physical contact between the CD or DVD and the player device. The reader uses an optical coupler that shines a light on the surface of the CD then reads the reflected light. Throughout the process there is a total physical separation between the cd and the cd player.
