cd player trouble

Our cd player is about 5 years old ,it skips so bad we can't use it ,other times its fine.Had it cleaned but they say theres nothing wrong with it ,yah nothing that a kick out the front door to the curb won't hurt.any advice or maybe we should get a new one.

have you gotten yourself a cleaning kit? All it is is a disk with a fine nylon brush that sweeps the laser eye clean from dust. sometimes the eye advance motor and/or belts stretch - there's a plastic track inside that the eye travels along that's greased. this can harden or the lead screw inside gets bound up. if you're handy take it apart carefully and clean it. use a fine grease like ANDEROL and re-lube it.
