Green Image on TV

Hi!! I hope someone can help me. I have a 27 in color tv. The image that comes to the screen is green. I messed with the color and hue controls just in case the baby messed with them in the first place and turned it green, but it wasn't like that b/c I selected the reset button and it stayed green. At one point from time to time the image would go back and forth from looking normal to having green all over. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with it? If it's something I can't fix myself, would it cost a lot to have it fix? I will appreciate any input you give. Thank you for your time.

The RED gun inside the picture tube has failed. There are three color guns inside the picture tube. One produces blue, one green and one red. The blue and green are predominate with the absence of red everything would look green even if both green and blue are functioning. Picture tube replacement is possible but buying a new TV would be more cost effective.
Besides newer units are better and last longer.
