Sony KDF50WE655 Rear Projection tv

I have a Sony KDF50WE655 Rear Projection tv and recently began to have an irregular blue band (greatest in the lower right corner) and a large blue spot in the center of the screen (about 2/3 the height of the screen). I have tried Sony's suggested fix of moving my stereo speakers further from the screen and unplugging for several minutes to reset. No luck. It occurs with TV alone, and when playing DVDs or VHS tapes. When I turn the TV off it stays on the screen for about 2 seconds, Then a relay or switch clicks inside the set and the blue spots disappear immediately. Am I ready for a new lamp block? Thanks for the help!

try going to www dot fixya dot com and post your problem in there - it's a question and answer forum like here but you got real experts in there - guys that work on sets everyday.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it was the light engine and was covered by warranty! Thanks again.
