Sharp DVD/HDD Recorder

Hi
I have a sharp dvd/hdd freeview recorder.
And the hard drive has completely broke.
It clicks and will not read the data.
I can still record with the dvd recorder function though.
Do you think that if i got a new internal harddrive and installed that do you think that it will work or will i need to got some software for it.
