Unknown VCR issue
I got a VCR from a school surplus sale. It is a 5061 JCPenny model that is probably older than me. I put a tape it and nothing happened. When I opened it up, I found all the belts had descintegrated. I was able to make new ones following the advice on another forum. My first attempt at belts caused the VCR to try to play, but it died when the belts popped off. Now that they are in good shape, it will do nothing. There are 2 belts that seem to be a little tight. Could that cause the VCR to power off instead of playing?

it all has to do with timing. if no action is performed within a certain time frame, the unit goes into a lockout condition. I deleted two of your postings because they didn't contain anything of user value. one of your answers to the posting was for a posting more than a year old.
