Uninstall before reinstall on 98se?

Hi everyone. My win98se is corrupt and it will be difficult to repair all issues one by one so I am going to reinstall 98se. I have the cd, start up diskette and key code. My question is "do I need to uninstall the 98se currently running before I go thru the install procedure?".

I ask because I followed the good instruction @ www.windowsreinstall.com/indexwin98.htm but cannot procede to the second step because DOS tells me drive C does not contain a valid FAT or FAT 32. It lists suggestions to fix but I tried them and they do not fix the issue. If I uninstall everything first, wouldn't the hard drive be clean and empty and I could install with no problems?

Any comments and suggestions is appreciated. Vince

after reformatting your hard drive you need to install windows 98 THEN windows 98se. the special edition needs some cab files off windows 98 to fully install.
