fieldstone planter

hi
just needing to know if anyone out there knows from start to finish how to build a stone planter about 2 1/2 ft high and length will vary. desperatley needing help thanx so much for anyone time in helpin me out

what sizes of fieldstone are we talking about? [diameter(s)] for the grout use a dry portland cement/sand mix. three parts sand, two parts portland cement, one part sintered limestone. mix thoroughly dry and then add coffee cans filled with water until the mix is moistened but not sloshy like regular cement. it should look like dampened sand. apply a layer where the rock will sit. use your hand or a stick and tamp the mix flat. what you want to do is compress the mix so its relatively hard in the joint(s) place other rocks next to the first and apply more mix between them, again tamping in place. go up to the next layer, put more cement on top as a bed for the next layer and tamp in place. usually overnight the cement will set up and be hard.
