Installing ceiling light

I've been using lamps for lighting in my bedroom and I would like to install ceiling for better lighting. There is a single pole switch next to the doorway. How can I use that switch to control the celing light?

Are the lamps turned on by the wall switch?

Tap into the switched plug and run a line up to the new light.
How you do this depends on where the wiring is located....Attic?
If so, can you get up there?
