110 plugged into 220

hello...i have a hdisk with an adaptor like in a laptop, it's bought in Japan and i accidentally plugged it into a 220 volts socket? the socket sparked. i want to know if the damage has been done on the hdisk or on the adaptor? would it be possible that the hdisk was not damaged???? please help. tnx.

Sometimes those ac/dc adapters have a fuse in them to protect the equipment. It is possible that it only harmed the adapter. Do you have another one you could try?
