Choosing a breaker box and service line

I'm buying a house that is roughly 113 years old, some of the wiring has been upgraded and some still needs to be done. This part is easy, however the current service to the house is only 60Amps, I'd like to have the town drop a new service...and have an electrician come and put in a new larger breaker box. What size should I get? Here's a few of the things that will be in the house, fridge, dishwasher, stove, A/C, Washer and Dryer, Computers and other electronics equipment.......but I also would like to run a line to a future garage where I'd like to use a welder, compressor and who knows what else. Am I dreaming here? or will 200Amps be just fine for what I'm doing????

Thanks,
Jason

Troy is an unknown quantity at this point
I would think 200 amps is plenty, unless the garage is going to pull a ridiculous amount of power. If the price difference isn't that much, you could just pull a new 200 amp line to your house, and save the 60 amp line for when you build the garage.
