dimmer & switch in same box

I have two standard light switches in a single box coverd by a two-gang wallplate. I would like to change out one of the switches with a dimmer. What is the best way to accomplish this? Thanks

I'm thinking along the lines of a wiremold extension ring as you mention a single box. If the box depth will accept it any standard dimmer should fit it. Rotary dimmers may not but a slide dimmer may fit. disconnect power and swap out the switch. the mass of metal on the extension ring will act as a secondary heat sink for the heat that's generated off the dimmer. a standard twogang switchplate is ll that's necessary to finish it. plastic is ok, but a metal one would be better.
