Switched outlets

I have a switched outlet that is controlled by a light switch for both outlets. I wish to have one half the outlet switched and the other unswitched. Can I adjust the outlet to fix this?

Thanks

Ian,

Welcome to the forum.

If you remove the wall plate and carefully pull the outlet out of the box how many wires are in there. If only one of each- white, black and bare copper, then the only way would be to run a new constant power into the box, break the tabs between the side screws and join the new supply to empty screws. If you find additional wires in the box then check them to see if they have constant power and if so use them.

Good luck, Jim
