Touch on / off light doesn't work...

I have a wall mounted lamp that when you touch it, it comes on at a low level, touch it again and it is medium level, and the third time it is bright.. tonight I turned it on by touching it and then the bulb burnt out... I replaced the bulb and it only come on bright..and the touch control has NO effect... levels don't change and I have to unplug it to to tuin it off... Is the lamp shot or have I overlooked something???

the touch control operates off "body" capacitance. when the bulb blew it took with it part of the electronic component. you can get a replacement controller at home depot or lowes.

Was the original bulb a "regular" or a 3-way?
