Washing Machine Overflow now Dryer trips circuit

We have had someone doing sheetrock work in our laundry room. Last night when I washed a load of clothes, the laundry room and kitchen flooded because the drain hose wasn't connected to the drain pipe. Apparently the sheetrock guy accidently knocked it out and we didn't know it.

Anyway, we sopped it all up with ALL every towel in the house. No big deal. Then we decided to start washing and drying all of the towels. However, when we tried to start the dryer, the breaker immediately tripped. We opened up the panel underneath the door of the dryer because we thought we might find more water under there. It was a little damp but not wet. We turned a fan on to blow underneath the dryer all night. This morning its still tripping the breaker.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Or how we can fix it? Obviously we want to be safe and not electrocute ourselves.

Thanks, Lisa

check the 240 outlet in back of the dryer. if water got in there it will always trip until the water evaporates. the receptacles are usually mounted sideways at floor level. if you intend to open it up, make DAMNED sure the breaker is OFF!
