Bathroom exhaust vent roof cap

Greetings all!
I have two bathrooms with exhaust fans. They vent to the outside
via PVC pipes through the roof. Here is my problem...the roof caps
have aged over time and are no longer sealing up the holes where
the vents are located in the roof. Any heavy rain comes....here comes
lovely leaks into my house (through the walls and ceilings..fun!).
Anyway, I have no idea how to install new roof caps on these vent
pipes. I would *love* someone to give me detailed instructions on
this as well as what you recommend to purchase (for example: I love
the "John Smith" brand of roof caps). I have found little on detailed
instructions on the Internet.

Welcome to the forum!

I am not familiar with the 'John Smith' brand roof vent. The most important thing with installing anything on a roof is to 'step' the shingles/flashing or flanges from the bottom to the top.

I would recommend you drop be your favorite local hardware store and tell them what size pipe you have (possibly 4") ,the pitch (slope) of your roof and the type of roofing material you have (asphalt, slate, clay). With this info they should be able to fix you up with the proper materials.
