window problem, please help!!!

Hi, I just purchased a living room window but when I tried installing it, I realized I measured incorrectly so it can't fit. The size of the window I bought is 68" wide by 37.5" high. The size I needed was 71" wide by 40.25" high. I can't return it so is there any way in still installing it. I spent $450 on it so don't want to waste it.
Someone please help me.

Thanks

Jimmer is an unknown quantity at this point
dynasty,

Welcome to the forum.

If you are going to make a mistake ordering a window it is easier to deal with what you have done then ordering a window too big for the opening.

You are going to have to get some wood that is the same width as your wall framing (3.5" if it is a 2x4 wall) and is 1.25" thick for building out your rough opening all around. Once you have applied this new wood you would use shimes as normal to position the new window. You may have to add 1.25" strips of drywall inside and crack fill or use wider trim to cover the build up.

If you wish further info please post back.

Good luck, Jim
