Garage Ceiling - Interior

Most of the drywall tape/patch in our garage is flaking off all over the place. Could this be caused by our dryer being vented inside the garage instead of outside? Also, how do we repair this or should we hire a professional drywaller?

Thx!

Big Red is on a distinguished road
I don't think you're helping yourself by venting all that humidity into the garage. I would stop that. It could be the cause, but taped ceilings in garages live a tough life and most don't hold up. You can do this yourself. Peal the paper tape down and use fiberglass tape. If you want to, you don't even have to finish the seams too well---get some of that tectured paint and go over whole ceiling with it. Friend of mine did that several years ago and it's holding up just fine.
