new windows

Putting carport on side, and will box in for windows. What opening dimensions do I use for framing. The Pella book list's a Frame width and height, and a opening width and height, (which is larger). Example: Frame width=3'6"frame height2'11"; Opening width 3'6-3/4", Opening height2'11-3/4". I am setting 4x4 post's and would like to center them with the proper spacing.

Use the opening width. This way when you get to install you may have to shim up or sideways for plumb and level. The windows fasten to the sheathing.
