Skylight Installation... Maybe...

I have a shop under the carport that I want to install a Skylight in... When I asked at the local Home Depot, the salesman wasn't to quick on the product.. My question is: I know that the roof pitch is slightly less than 12/3.. so would installing Velux a skylight on a flashed curb be OK or will I just be asking for trouble? Let there be "Light"

3/12 pitch isn't much of an angle but a curbed skylight may work. the skylight will come as a kit so your rough opening must be exact. seal the gap between the window unit and sheathing with a rubber based caulk. install overlapping aluminum flashing from the center -out - to deflect water AWAY from the upper horizontal part of the window.
