Age of Asphalt Shingles

I bought a house recently and there were 3 bundles of asphalt shingles in the garage. I'm not sure how old they are, but I'm wondering how much shingles age if they just sit in a pile.

Imo,as long as they were not stored in any direct sulight and still in the bundle they should be just as good as the day they were made.
it's when they are are installed out in the weather when they start to age.
