Refinishing exterior wood door advice

I was not sure where to post this particular topic, so I chose Exterior Home Repair.

Our exterior doors are wood - stained with a clear finish. We are entering our third winter and the wood finish will need some attention this Spring.

The advice I am seeking is what do I need to do to revive the current finish and to protect the wood? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to refinish the wood door and trim and also what products I might consider for this home project?

first find out what finish you have on there Oil, or water based.
More than likely its oil if it is outside.

I would do a light sand. tack cloth and recoat with a Int/Ext varnish or the like. I would make sure it is Oil based and has UV inhibitors. I would also do at least two or three coats of that.
