Verge Board needs Repair!!

We're in the process of buying a new house(4 bed detached built 1992).
The survey on the house states that the right hand verge board needs repairing.
We've had a quote of £175 for this repair, however the surveyor recommends that all the verge board needs to be checked as quite often the damage/problem could be in more than one area, whether visible or not.
Would this be possible? And if so how much would it be to replace the whole verge board , and what would be best - wood or UPVC, and how much would this be?

HELP!!

I don't think too many people are familiar with your description of your problems here in the "states." Quite possible that there are people in the UK that would offer you suggestions.

A verge board is basically a facia on the gable end of the roof. Often it is has fancy carvings. I have no idea how much one would cost in (I assume) England, but it would be wise to be replaced with a PVC product for longevity.
