Gutter Replacement?

Hi everyone!



I will need to be replacing my gutter soon and after my bad experience with hiring people to fix my backyard (the job wasn't done properly AT ALL... I might as well have done nothing because it certainly hadn't done anything but made things worse) I want to find out more about gutter replacements before actually finding someone to do the job. (I shouldn't have hired them and asked them to do that job without understanding what was going on properly... which I regret...)

I've already asked them for a quote so is there anything else I should ask them? Like things I need to make sure they will do because in my experience the guy said he would do something but just finished the job and said that it wasn't included in the paperwork...

What are some things I need to know about replacing gutters?

I want to make sure that I'm prepared this time!!

You should call a specialist gutter crew, The best type of gutter will be a continuous with no seams or joints from one corner to the next, these types of gutters are made on site from a special machine mounted in the back of a truck, the aluminum is on a roll, fed into the machine which will bend it into the style/shape required and then cut it in one piece the required length. Depending on how long the sides or the roof are they will either slope 1/4" / foot towards the downspouts at the end, or slope each way from the middle (long gutter run) to a downspout on either end.
The downspouts should never discharge water at the foundation, rather have extensions directing the water away from the foundation of the home.

Their quote said that they would be using Colorbond, do you know anything about it?

Also I wonder if Australia uses that process to make the gutter xD?

Well then today is your extra special lucky day, I am actually an Australian but I've been living in the States now for 9 years or so.

Yes Colorbond is the product you need. Colorbond is a brand and basically it's factory colored aluminium (Aussie spelling) which means the color won't wear off or ever need painting.
I've used Colorbond in Australia many, many times when I lived there and have never had a problem with it. I used it exclusively for gutters and roofing on all three of my own homes and would recommend it to anyone.
