baseboards

We already have carpet installed in our home but don't have any baseboards. We would like to install baseboards. Can we do this over the carpet or will that be weird? How would we do that? Thanks.

You could make your baseboards or buy them. Depends what you want for a decorative edge. Painted or stained and urethaned. You won't need a shoe moulding because you're going right on the carpet. Use a stud finder and locate the studs. Use finishing nails and a nail set and set the heads below the surface. Use an appropriate filler and finish.
