Carpeting and Painting
Should I paint first or install new carpeting first?
I've gotten different opinions from salespeople, but would like advice from experienced people who actually know what they're talking about (and who aren't trying to sell me anything!)

pull up the old carpet and padding first, then paint, then install the new carpet.

Go ahead and paint but keep in mind that you will have to do some touch up after the carpet goes in.You have a piece of rug that is bigger than the room so the odds are that you will mar up some walls and base, even the best of them can't keep that from happening[8D]
