cleaning off old carpet glue

I presently have outdoor carpet glued down to the concrete steps and porch in front of both entrance doors to my house. This was here when I purchased the house and now the wife wants it gone and back to bare concrete. Is there a way to get this carpet glue off the concrete. I can peel up the carpet but it will leave the glue stuck (gooey) on the concrete, I believe the carpet was installed around 1999 since most of the recent remodel that I can see has a date on some of the products.
