jatoba planks

I recently bought 700 sq.ft. of Jatoba pre-finished 5" planks from a wholesaler. When I was carpet shopping, my carpet guy told me that I need to nail and glue my floor. He went as far as to tell me what kind of glue to use. I was not planning on gluing the floor down. I was planning on using rosin paper under the hardwood. Gluing would make this impossible. Is there an advantage to using nails versus staples? Any help would be greatly apprecited.
