Self leveling concrete

Quick Question:
I have just bought a house and in the kitchen it has old 60's linoleum. In the 60's before the linoleum was put down, the house was expanded. Half the kitchen is on the origonal pier and beam foundation, and the other half is on a cement slab. one or the other settled over the years and there is a slight dip (about 1/4 of an inch difference, and about 2 feet long) between the two. My question is can I use self leveling concrete over the linoleum to level the floor before putting down laminate flooring? If yes, how should I prep the linoleum first? What other options do I have?
Thanks
Chris
