Wood Floor Gaps in New Home

I built a home and had the builder install solid hickory wood floors. After only one year, I have several gaps in the floors that are 1/8" and many other gaps in the floors that are less than that. I'm certain that the the gaps were not prominant at time of move in. When I compare my floors to my neighbors (some of which were built by this builder), they do not seem to have this problem. My guess is that the wood had a high moisture content at time of installation.

At my one-year inspection, I discussed this with the builder and he is looking into this. I'd like to get some advice on what my expectation should be with regards to gaps in wood floors and what I should accept and or request from the builder to rectify the situation. I have a lot of wood flooring in the main level of my house and I need to make sure that I get the quality from the builder that I paid for.

Thanks!
