Smile carpet cleaning

can you clean carpet with just hot water, no chemicals, i was told no

to shampoo a carpet water alone won't wet the surface, a surfactant must be used. Carpets are made of natural wool which repels water and nylon fibers are close to wool. A surfactant wets the fibers which releases the dirt that's ground into it.
