Stair skirts

Hi,
I have an enclosed staircase that's carpeted. I want to put a skirt up both sides. Purely for decorative reasons. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Thanks!

make a skirt with an angled hem. use long extension springs screwed into the stairway stringer. thread the spring(s) into the opening formed by the hem.
