Installing Stained concrete floor?

I love the look of stained concrete floors (very fashionable in new loft-style condos, etc.) and would like to pour one in a new house. Is this something I can do over a plywood subfloor?? Or, is this a slab-only application?

THANKS!!

Chris

handyandy is an unknown quantity at this point
I'm not sure, but it seems to me you would run into one of two problems:

1) The concrete is too thick, weighing too heavily on the plywood.

2) The concrete is too thin, and susceptible to the movement of the plywood due to heat and other factors. The concrete will probably crack because of this.

Anyone else?
